Reducing CO2 emissions - case studies

  • Alara Wholefoods is saving 52 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year at its manufacturing site in London following a switch from fossil based energy supplies in 2005 to a 100% renewable electricity tariff.
  • Britvic has achieved a 30.2% reduction in energy used in manufacturing and a 23.8% reduction in carbon emissions per tonne of product produced since 1997.
  • Kellogg's was tracking at about 25% less energy used per tonne of food produced against the 1990 baseline.
  • Nestlé UK have reduced carbon usage by 9% against a 10% target.
  • PepsiCo has increased to 16% the proportion of renewable electricity within its total energy usage.
  • Unilever has achieved a 39% reduction in CO2 from energy per tonne of production since 1995.
