Warburtons - Case study: Reducing packaging
The successful launch of a new 'mid sized' loaf is one
of the ways in which Warburtons is helping to reduce
packaging usage as well as food waste in the home.
The company's 600g loaf has been made possible due
to a change in European law enabling bread to be baked
in different sizes from the traditional 800g and 400g
packs. Warburtons was the first branded baker to take
the opportunity to launch products in the 600g size.
For
those consumers who found the existing products too
big, this simple development is a great way of minimising
wastage in the home – and the smaller loaves require less
packaging.
As a responsible company, Warburtons is also reviewing
all its existing packaging with the Courtauld Commitment
objectives in mind.
