Britvic - Case study: Fewer transport miles
As part of its plans to achieve fewer food transport miles, Britvic has worked
with haulier Wincanton and Malcom's Logistics to create a rail freight solution
that removes 50 lorries off UK roads each day and generates savings of 3,285
tonnes per year of CO2 emissions.
Currently in its trial phase, the rail route will replace road journeys moving
an average 1 million bottles of Britvic products including Robinsons, Pepsi,
Tango, J2O, Drench Water and Fruit Shoot from the Midlands up to Scotland each
day.
The solution will deliver genuine CO2 savings by ensuring full return legs. These return journeys will move product
for Malcolm's Logistics customers from Scotland back down to the Midlands
before
repeating the process for Britvic – a great example of how working
collaboratively can make a greater impact on carbon reduction.
