Coca-Cola Enterprises - Case study: Zero waste to landfill
Coca-Cola Enterprises continues to increase the amount
of waste it recycles from its manufacturing sites in Great
Britain as part of its aim to send zero waste to landfill.
The company's factory in East Kilbride opened a new and
more efficient production line in 2009.
As part of this £3m
investment, CCE has put in place measures to completely
eliminate waste being sent to landfill from the factory by
the end of 2011. These measures include investing in the
recycling facility on the site as well as working in partnership
with a waste contractor. And 98% of waste is now being
recycled.
CCE's Milton Keynes manufacturing site is close to
achieving the ambition to be sending zero waste to
landfill – having sent less than two tonnes to landfill in the
past year. Much of this has been achieved by extensive
waste segregation, staff education and training as well as
investment in recycling equipment.
