reduce water use in manufacturing by 20% by 2020 compared to 2007 levels.
- Burton's Foods conducted a fullscale water investigation across all sites, relative to the
tonnes of product baked.
- Dairy Crest have seen relative water savings of 8% across the business and a 16% reduction
in m3 of water used per tonne of milk processed at their Hanworth site.
- Kellogg's Wrexham plant reduced water use by over 20% per tonne of food in 2008 against
2007.
- Mars in the UK has reduced its annual water consumption at its confectionery factory
in Slough
by almost 25% from 2007 to 2009.
- Nestlé in the UK and Ireland has a target to reduce water usage by 10% by 2010 against
a 2006 baseline.
- R&R Ice Cream has been focusing on ways to maximise
efficiency through the introduction of new technological
advances designed to improve water reuse.
- William Jackson Food Group / Hazeldene has
managed to save in excess of 20% of its water usage at its Wigan plant, some
70,000 m3 a year.
