Case Study: Kraft Foods UK and Ireland
In line with Kraft Foods' community involvement strategy, and
spurred on by public concerns about diet and health, the company
created the health4schools programme.
health4schools provides schools with funding and support
to undertake activities which help children to learn about the
importance of good nutrition and being active. School activities
have been developed around four key areas:
-
growing and learning about food
- learning to cook
- eating breakfast
- active play
Participating schools have been highly successful in introducing
significant and exciting changes within their schools, creating a
wealth of ideas from which other schools may benefit.
Kraft Foods set itself targets to support the delivery of sustained
change in 100 schools across Gloucestershire, where the
company's UK head office is based. This number is the equivalent
of a third of all schools in the county. The target was achieved over
a four year period, with the scheme reaching approximately 24,000
pupils.
Kraft Foods is now reinventing the programme as health4schools
futures to continue to promote healthy lifestyles and incorporate
wider sustainability issues into the initiative.
