Case Study: Young's Seafood (Findus Group)
For Young's Seafood, employee wellbeing is a means to better
engage with employees; increase staff retention; improve
morale; and enhance the objective for it to be an employer of
choice, both regionally and within the food and fi sh industry.
Initiated by the human resources team, this programme began
by pooling ideas to design employee wellbeing projects.
Team leaders were allocated to each project and critical paths
drawn up. Collectively, the team decided to call their initiative
'Everyone Benefi ts' - highlighting it as a 'win win' for both
employees and the business. After briefi ng staff and collecting
feedback, a rolling programme of activities for employees took
off. On average, at least one new initiative now takes place a
month. Communication is via dedicated notice boards, intranet,
changing posters and leafl ets circulated to staff.
The Grimsby business also undertakes quarterly briefi ngs
on the progress of 'Everyone Benefi ts', it also uses these as an
opportunity to collect feedback, new ideas and suggestions on
how to improve the scheme.
