WellWise
Employees at United Biscuits (UB) are encouraged and
empowered to take personal responsibility for their own health,
safety and wellbeing and that of their colleagues.
Through its WellWise programme, employees are entitled to a
full health assessment every three years and receive information
on smoking cessation, alcohol and drugs awareness, stress
awareness and mental health education. They also have the
option of mini MOT lifestyle checks looking at blood pressure,
cholesterol, weight and BMI and advice on musculo-skeletal
issues in order to reduce injuries.
Partnerships have been
developed with external organisations such as healthcare
providers and leisure centres and companies are invited to
health and wellbeing events to provide treatments such as
Indian head massage, refl exology and aromatherapy.
UB also links its workplace wellbeing to helping charities and
an increasing number of employees have become involved
decorating a local hospice and garden makeovers for schools
and residential homes. They also take part in high profi le
national events such as Race for Life, the Sport Relief Mile and
Genes for Jeans.
