This free networking event features keynote speakers Chief Scientific Advisor to
Government Sir Mark Walport and Cargill Plc Board Director and Agri-Tech
Leadership Council Member Martin Douglas OBE.
Dr Stephen Axford, Head of Agri-tech Strategy at the Department for Business,
Innovation and Skills, and Chris Warkup, Director of the Biosciences Knowledge
Transfer Network (KTN) will discuss the opportunities to secure public funding
including part of the £160 million government investment under the UK Agri-Tech
Strategy and other Technology Strategy Board sources of funding.
Participants will also hear from representatives of the two existing Centres of
Excellence in Food Engineering and Innovative Manufacturing in Food.
The event will bring together interested groups of food and drink manufacturers,
funders and researchers to explore collaborative opportunities to take forward
the 10 priority areas for research identified by FDF and the Biosciences KTN by
participating in one of the following workshop groups:
- Future of Manufacturing – new/developing technologies
- Resource Efficiency – energy, water & waste
- Smarter Packaging
- New and Smarter Ingredients
