Webinar: Opportunities in India's Food and Drink Market

We are delighted to be able to invite you to a joint UK India Business Council (UKIBC) - Food and Drink Federation (FDF) webinar. This webinar promises to be a unique opportunity to garner insight into how outward-looking UK food and drink companies can navigate one of the largest, though complicated, international food and drink markets out there.

Why India? To put it one way, the food and drink industry in India was estimated to be worth £193 billion in 2017. By 2020, this industry will be worth £325 billion. Putting this into context, the UK food and drink manufacturing industry has a turnover of £97.3 billion accounting for 19% of total UK manufacturing. With strong domestic demand attributed to a burgeoning young middle class with growing disposable income and a willingness to spend it on higher-cost preferences, India's potential market is quite simply enormous.

Guiding us through this market opportunity will be

  • Ian WrightFDF Chief Executive
  • Subhayu RayUKIBC's Senior Business Development Manager
  • Shubhi MishraUKIBC Food and Drink Consultant

Ian Wright is a passionate advocate for the UK Food and Drink manufacturing industry both here and abroad and recently led UKIBC's Trade Mission to Delhi and Mumbai in February earlier this year. With prior experience with Diageo, his understanding of the industry's needs at this moment are perhaps unrivalled in the UK. Surbhi Mathur joins UKIBC following nine years with the United States of Department of Agricultural (USDA) at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi as a Senior Agricultural Specialist and is able to offer a comprehensive understanding of international entry into India's market. Likewise, Subhayu Ray has extensive first-hand experience helping UK based members and clients make the big step of entering and operating in India at a practical level and is no stranger to overcoming the barriers many companies face along the way.

Based on the success of UKIBC's earlier Trade Mission, which included a strong presence at the India Food Forum 2019, UKIBC are constantly looking ahead to empower UK food and drink companies to access the Indian market. Beyond this webinar, we will be leading a second Delegation with the FDF to the renowned World Food India in November, one of the largest exhibitions in the sector in the country, to meet potential clients, customers, and gather insight and advice from leading trade and Government organisations overseeing the market.

We hope you are able to join us for the webinar via the registration instructions below. Should you be interested in finding out more about UKIBC's work in this sector, including our November Delegation, please do not hesitate to get in touch with Shubhi on shubhi.mishra@ukibc.com.
