BRE Consultation on Macrory Penalties Review: Regulatory Justice – Sanctioning in a post-Hampton World

FDF has made a submission to the Better Regulation Office in response to its consultation on the Macrory Review of Regulatory Justice'. The Macrory Review is consulting on options for the reform of regulatory sanctioning regimes. The Government agreed to commission this review as a result of recommendations arising from the Hampton Report (published In March 2005). The aim of the Macrory review is to ensure that regulators have access to a flexible enforcement toolkit consistent with the risk-based approach to regulation outlined by Hampton. The consultation paper offers an initial analysis of UK penalties practice and proposed options for reform.
