Below is a summary of some of the main food news topics currently being played out in the newspapers:

• Copenhagen climate change conference: it is important to recognise that a successful legally binding treaty will have important implications for food and drink manufacturers.

• Nutrition labelling and GDAs: Manufacturers are committed to providing consumers with clearer food labelling that will help them make healthier choices.

• The environment: this continues to be a focus for the media, at the moment coverage is being generated as a result of a series of announcements by retailers and manufacturers undertaking environmental activities, and the Government's Climate Change Bill which is due to come into force shortly.
