Organic Food and Drink

Organic food and drink is produced to specific standards, enshrined in law, controlling how crops can be grown and animals farmed. Organic farmers, and the products produced from organic ingredients, are certified by special bodies, such as the Soil Association, Organic Farmers and Growers and the Organic Food Federation, to ensure they have met these standards.

As organic products become more popular, more products are being launched onto the market. FDF welcomes this increase in consumer choice. However, it is important to remember that organic still represents a small proportion of the food and drink we consume, and supplies of organic ingredients around the world remain limited. This means manufacturing conventional, non-organic food and drink is vital to make sure we have enough to eat.

FDF members obtain their raw ingredients from a variety of sources, but always make sure their suppliers meet exacting production standards to help guarantee the food and drink we buy in the UK is safe and of the highest quality.
