FDF response to the Defra Consultation (Stage 1) on the transposition of the revised Waste Framework Directive (Directive 2008/98/EC)

This response reflects the views of the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), which represents the UK's food and drink industry, the country's largest manufacturing sector.

FDF wishes to express its support for the response submitted by CBI in particular that the:

• The waste hierarchy should remain flexible to allow waste management programmes to fit the specific needs of an industry;
• The Government should acknowledge the Commission's decision on the definition of by-products.

We trust that you will be willing to take account of these views before the next stage in the implementation process and look forward to hearing your response.
