September 2014

On 2 August 2013, the EU Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment and Energy of the House of Lords, chaired by Baroness Scott, launched an inquiry into the EU's contribution to food waste prevention. FDF submitted a written response in September 2013.

FDF's response highlighted the important contribution that voluntary approaches can play in tackling food waste and cited the WRAP Courtauld Commitment and Love Food Hate Waste campaign as examples of effective action. The FDF Five fold Environmental Ambition and the work of FoodDrinkEurope in developing the European Food Wastage Declaration along with the complimentary toolkit are also referenced as valuable industry initiatives.
