FDF Respose: Labour Party's Cole Review of British Exports

Back to competitiveness responses index

December 2014

In October 2014, the Labour Party commissioned an independent review into how government can better support British businesses to export internationally. The review, led by Graham Cole, Chairman of AgustaWestland UK, will report to Ed Balls and Chuka Umunna and will focus on how to tackle the UK's more than 30 year trade deficit and boost trade. It will also examine how government can support businesses in the UK to export through better access to finance, better skills including language skills, and supported access to markets, as well as how government export schemes can be simplified and streamlined. FDF submitted a written response to this review, setting out a number of areas that could help to deliver most effective export support, enabling food and drink manufacturers to be more competitive and fulfil its potential in terms of increasing exports to third markets.
