FDF Response: Phasing out the Default Retirement Age
Back to competitiveness responses index
October 2010
The FDF submission to the BIS consultation on the Default Retirement Age is the
industry response on behalf of the food and drink manufacturing as represented
by the views of business organisations within FDF membership. These views were
reached by consultation with members of FDF's Employment and Skills Committee.
The recent publication of the Government's consultation document on phasing out
the Default Retirement Age (DRA) of 65 over six months, starting from April
2011
and ending in October 2011, has created considerable concern amongst
manufacturers. This proposed change of employment legislation has created a
huge amount of
concern amongst both large and small employers.
Since the consultation document's publication, a number of FDF member
organisations have provided detailed comments on the practical problems that
they feel
phasing out the DRA will create and which they feel the Government has not
really
addressed.
