FDF Response
January 2007
FDF has made a submission to Defra's consultation on the EC's proposal for a
revised Waste Framework Directive. Defra is inviting Stakeholder views on the
revision of the Waste Framework Directive (WFD) to inform the UK's negotiations
in Brussels and to ensure that it has an evidence base which is as sound as
possible. The Commission's objective in revising the Directive is to introduce
clearer definitions, refocus the Directive on the reduction of environmental
impacts from waste generation and management taking into account the whole life
cycle
and to simplify the legal framework. The principal issues for FDF relate
to the
proposed use of comitology, the waste hierarchy and definitions.
