FDF has responded to the European Commission's stakeholder questionnaire on
the EU's Common Agriculture Policy (CAP) “Health Check” Communication. The CAP
“Health Check” Communication was published on 22 November 2007 which outlines
the
Commission's thinking on what could be achieved. In advance of draft
legislative
proposals to be published in May 2008, the Commission has asked detailed
questions
seeking stakeholders' views.
FDF has made its priorities clear for the
CAP
“Health Check”. Our comments have two recurrent themes running through them.
First,
further CAP reform is necessary in order to achieve greater market
orientation
and improved competitiveness for EU agriculture vis à vis third
countries.
Second,
a level playing field within the EU is necessary to avoid market
distortions
between Member States.
