FDF is very aware of the challenges posed by climate change and environmental
protection. Our existing Five-fold Environmental Ambition, launched in November
2007, seeks to maximise efficiency of resource use in terms of carbon, water,
transport, packaging and waste. We are also actively looking at impacts across
the
value chain, from primary producers to final consumers and working with others
to
develop the life cycle analysis tools which will inform future resource use
strategies and targets.
As part of the Five-fold Environmental Ambition we committed to reducing CO2
emissions by 20% by 2010 and aspire to a 30% reduction by 2020, both against a
1990
baseline. In our first annual report in November 2008 we were pleased to report
that by 2006 we had achieved a CO2 reduction of 17% - demonstrating good
progress towards our target.
