General introduction and FDF position
The Food and Drink Federation (FDF) is the leading representative of the food
and drink manufacturing industry in the UK. A brief summary of the industry and
organisations we represent is attached as an Annexe.
Issues relating to the Agency workers are of great importance to us in
maintaining flexibility, competitiveness and employment. FDF's evidence is
based on
consultation with member companies via the Employee Relations and Efficiency
Committee (ERE).
Our general view is that this Directive must be implemented in a way that
minimises the administrative burdens placed on employers and enable them to
continue
using agency workers as a way to adapt their workforce quickly and efficiently
to
meet changing customer requirements and economic circumstances.
