Implementing the Packaging Strategy: recovery and recycling targets, funding transparency and technical changes
May 2010
FDF does not consider that higher targets on their own will achieve the progress
the Government wishes to see on packaging recycling, particularly in terms of
building a strong and resilient UK recycling system and ensuring that the
significant progress made so far is not undermined.
What is also needed is
strong
leadership from Government to local authorities to act in a more consistent way
in
terms of materials collection alongside more discussion on how best to secure
the
investment in recycling infrastructure in the UK as well as identification of
end
markets.
