The SVQ has offered candidates a wide range of options to choose from depending on their role, experience and employer’s needs. There has been an increasing appetite from the industry due to this flexibility and this has resulted in a large number of Food Manufacture Modern Apprenticeships being delivered, in which the SVQ is an integral part.

What is ERI?

New research by Improve, the skills council for the UK food and drink manufacturing sector, has highlighted the emerging technologies set to change the face of UK food manufacturing and processing – and the workforce skills needed to operate them.

Among the 42 leading edge technologies the study believes could become commonplace are:

Industry News: Government backs UK food and drink manufacturers with £1.7 million skills injection

The UK food and drink manufacturing sector has won a vote of confidence from Government which has announced it is to inject almost £1.7million into a range of strategic skills projects designed to support competitiveness, growth and jobs.

The funds will cover around half the cost of the new skills programme – with food and drink businesses committing to provide the same amount again in cash, time and in-kind support on the basis of a milestone-based “investment plan” for skills in the sector.
