Workplace Wellbeing
Food and drink manufacturers have long recognised the importance of ensuring the
wellbeing of the people who work in their manufacturing sites and offices,
which
is why FDF's leading members have pledged to develop workplace schemes that
promote healthy diets and lifestyles.
The importance of workplace wellbeing was recognised by the Government in its
Public Health White Paper, published in 2004, and more recently in the European
Commission's new strategy for tackling the health issues caused by poor
nutrition and obesity.
When you consider the scale of the UK food and drink manufacturing industry
– we are the largest manufacturing sector in the country, directly
employing
500,000 people – you can quickly understand how our pledge has the
potential to make a huge impact to the health of the nation.
The food industry wants to be an exemplar in this area. FDF's members are proud
of the positive actions that we have already taken to promote workplace
wellbeing – and you will find some of our schemes showcased in this
section.
More Information
FDF has published a booklet called Workplace Wellbeing: The Food Industry in Action (pdf, 1.2Mb) which features many of the schemes found in this section.
