KP Snacks

In 2014, following acquisition by The Intersnack Group, KP Snacks began a programme to change the culture of the organisation, entitled “Achieving Together: Creating and Embedding KP's Values and Behaviours”. The programme involved employees from each of the company's sites from all levels and functions, ensuring change was achieved with full colleague participation and engagement.

The project began by creating focus groups to talk about the kind of organisation they wished to see. These were then simplified by a core team to create a workable set of values that could live in every aspect of the day to day business. This core team later became the company's V&B Steering Committee. The agreed V&Bs were then rolled out and embedded into the business. This was done by engaging colleagues to become V&B Champions. There are now 68 V&B Champions from all over the business, from weekend cleaners to brand managers.

The project also involved initiatives such as a V&B Champions Day, V&B call out cards, a 'Feel Good Friday' email and a V&B interactive Session, among other things, to build momentum and be the drivers of the culture change. To further embed the project, from January 2015 the company agreed that appraisals would include an assessment on V&Bs, which are now core to their talent acquisition and talent review processes.

The impact of the project has been significant, and is reflected in the company's overall market success. The programme also benefited employee engagement, with their engagement survey having an incredible 92% participation, compared to 59% the year before.
