Food and Drink Engineer of the Year 2017

The food and drink community celebrated success on 21 September 2017 as the winners of the Food and Drink Federation Awards were announced.

Sarah Cain - The Wrigley Company

Sarah Cain is Reliability & Maintenance Manager at The Wrigley Company, where she manages a team of 25 engineers ensuring the factory assets run smoothly. She leads a diverse group, as well as playing an important role in Wrigley's apprenticeship programme. She supports the company's talent agenda, which aims to empower individuals through growth and learning initiatives, as well as supporting women in engineering & STEM events.

She joined The Wrigley Company in 2013, and has quickly worked her way up the company due to her people skills and leadership qualities. She is described by colleagues as standing out for her “likeability, enthusiasm, and thirst for development, both her own and those whom she leads”. These qualities are reflected in the career success of her team members, as well as the improved performance of the company's Plymouth factory. She has achieved all of this over just 18 months in her current role, while also studying for a Degree in Electrical & Electronics.
