Regional Growth Business – South West England Award 2017

The food and drink community celebrated success on 21 September 2017 as the winners of the Food and Drink Federation Awards were announced.


Friska is an ethically minded, quality, quick service restaurant in the Food-to-Go market, which aims to service all meal and snack options throughout the day. Based in Bristol, Friska has been named Observer Food Monthly Best Ethical Restaurant award winner and a Sustainable Restaurant three-star member.

Friska is passionate about providing fresh, quality food using responsibly sourced ingredients to create dishes inspired from around the world. The company is also committed to championing sustainability, supporting charitable causes and fostering a good internal culture. Friska supports Deki, a microfinance charity, which provides micro loans to aspiring entrepreneurs in Africa; and donates to Deki and Frank Water through a product sales contribution.

Seven of the company's nine stores are currently located in its home city, with another in Birmingham and a new one at Luton Airport. In addition to this, the company has a strong growth strategy, based on demographically suitable locations outside London.

Friska has demonstrated excellent growth rates over recent years, along with significant store expansion, heavy investment in a platform for growth and has received recognition in a number of quarters – all contributing to a unique Friska culture that has accelerated development in the business.
