Webinar: A Regulator's perspective of food and drink sites

The Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016 cover certain food and drink sector operations, requiring the operator to have an environmental permit, issued by the relevant environmental regulator, to operate legally.

The permit has numerous conditions which must be complied with, these include;
 General Management
- Efficient use of raw materials and water
- Avoidance, recovery and disposal of wastes
- Emissions and monitoring
- Odour
- Noise and vibration
- Pests

Non-compliance with these permit conditions will result in enforcement action being taken by the environmental regulator, ranging from advice and guidance through to prosecution and potential permit suspension or revocation. Each level of non-compliance is scored and the total annual non-compliance score is used to calculate the compliance band which will affect the annual subsistence fee to be paid the following year.

This webinar will reflect on Paul’s experience of being responsible for the regulation of numerous food and drink sites in North and Mid Wales. Case studies and practical examples will be used to highlight common non-compliances, how the response of the operator can influence regulatory actions and the true cost of non-compliance.
