Webinar: Environment Agency, new enforcement approach, sanctions and increased fees

FREE event

The webinar covers two themes: the proposed changes to the EA's enforcement and sanctions approach, and proposed changes to fees and charges for its regulatory activities. The enforcement and sanctions proposals incorporate new government policies including sentencing, victims' right to review and the economic growth duty. The proposals for revised charges are a major overhaul of the existing scheme which aims to make the charges more reflective of the regulatory activity needed so as to achieve better cost recovery. Increases in charges are proposed for many of the EA's permitting and compliance activities.

The webinar will provide an overview of the proposals and the key implications for regulated businesses.

Who should attend:

The webinar will be of interest to Environmental Managers as well as middle and senior management who are involved in business operations and facilities.

Presenter: Maggie Dutton

Maggie is Technical Director for Environmental Permitting in SLR Consulting and has seventeen years' previous experience in national roles at the Environment Agency. She has worked with regulators, government, trade bodies and businesses to develop regulatory approaches and technical standards to implement new legislative requirements and policies across industrial and waste management sectors, including those associated with the Industrial Emissions Direction and Waste Framework Directive. She also developed procedures and guidance to streamline EA's internal processes and reduce unnecessary burdens of regulation, as well as the EA's sector-based approach to target regulatory resources on environmental priorities.
