- Improving precision agriculture and soil health, creating innovative plant breeding and food storage solutions to better utilise resources and reduce waste;
- Developing sustainable manufacturing systems based on the circular economy, using waste materials for manufacturing new products and eco-efficiency with reduced use of energy, water and materials;
- Optimising the food logistics and supply chain within a sustainable and circular framework, using innovative decision support and information systems;
- Assessing the resilience of the global food system and potential knock-on effects of global threats on the UK’s food and nutrition security.
Our near-industrial scale research facilities enable our industry partners to trial new products and processes under pre-commercial conditions.
