Where these trade agreements deliver reduced or zero-rated tariffs on food and drink, they also include detailed terms and conditions that dictate whether a product can benefit. These rules can be challenging for products that contain certain imported ingredients.

As the UK seeks to put in place new and updated preferential trade agreements, it is clear that new opportunities are being created for UK food and drink businesses to trade overseas. To successfully navigate these agreements and benefit your business, it is essential that you understand how these agreements work.

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of:

  1. How to find key details in preferential trade agreements
  2. What requirements are imposed as part of a trade agreement
  3. How to navigate rules of origin to ensure your products can benefit
  4. Other mitigations and derogations
  5. Required paperwork and how to record originating data
