The Food and Drink Careers Passport® from the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink is your passport to all the essential knowledge you need for working in UK Food & Drink Manufacturing.
Developed in partnership with the Food and Drink Federation and major food & drink manufacturing businesses, the new Food & Drink Careers Passport® exclusively available from the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink (NSAFD) is the complete package. It's based around accessible online learning of all the core areas applicants need to work in the industry.
The associated industry standard courses leading to Passport qualification, registration and certification are purpose-designed by leading experts, regularly reviewed with industry input and delivered only via the NSAFD as your assurance of accepted content and quality.
Once completed, qualifications are officially registered in the NSAFD's dedicated national Passport database - giving employers full online transparency of your attainment and speeding up the entire on-boarding process.
What is the Food and Drink Careers Passport®?
The Food and Drink Careers Passport® is an employability tool which provides jobseekers in England and Wales with the opportunity to gain pre-entry training and accreditation in four essential food safety and compliance courses, all endorsed by Food Safety and HACCP:
- Food Safety Level 2
- HAACP Level 2
- Health & Safety Level 2
- Allergens Awareness
Courses are all done online and once completed the passport qualifications are stored on the NSAFD’s central database. By gaining the Passport, jobseekers can benefit from guaranteed interviews or preferential short-listing for job-postings by business who have pledged their support.
Why is it needed?
The food and drink industry currently employs nearly 500,000 people in every part of the UK. We are the lifeblood of communities and, while our customers at the heart of everything we do, we can only make the fantastic range of products that everyone enjoys because of our talented and passionate workforce.
But our sector faces challenging labour shortages, across a wide range of roles at every level. This is hampering our sector’s ability to increase productivity and adding extra costs on to our businesses.
The Careers Passport is an essential part of the solution, alongside greater flexibility in the Apprenticeship Levy and an urgent review of the shortage occupation list.
How do businesses benefit?
As well as helping jobseekers gain important qualifications to boost their chances of finding employment, the Passport has enormous benefits to employers.
The Passport will help businesses cut down on the time and money spent recruiting as they will be able to easily identify engaged, interested starters who have made a choice to actively pursue a career in food and drink.
It also makes the onboarding process easier as Passport holders have core food handling and safety compliance certification.
The scheme is run at no cost to employers, and all course content has been designed by leading industry experts so business can be sure that Passport holders have been trained to the highest industry standards.
The Food and Drink Careers Passport® has already been supported by some of the largest food and drink manufacturers in the UK including several of FDF’s biggest members such as Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Mars and Britvic.
