AB Mauri UK & Ireland: From Research to Reformulation: Showcasing Evidence‑Based Reformulation to Parliament

Published: 11 June 2026 Updated: 11 June 2026

AB Mauri took part in the FDF parliamentary tasting event in June 2025, co-hosting the Action on Fibre stand, to demonstrate to MPs how industry is taking action to help close the gap between current intakes and dietary recommendations. AB Mauri showcased how their involvement in academic research has tested the acceptability of higherfibre innovations in realworld settings, providing evidence that higherfibre products can be developed without compromising taste or consumer acceptability, even for audiences, such as children, who are often perceived as less receptive to higherfibre options.

AB Mauri’s message was that offering higherfibre options through school breakfast clubs has the potential to deliver a meaningful, widespread improvement in children’s fibre intake. However, the commercial reality is that higher ingredient costs can limit adoption, particularly in large, budgetconstrained programmes such as school breakfast clubs. The additional cost of healthier, new innovative ingredients often limits the uptake of higherfibre options in lowcost staples such as bread, particularly for projects aimed at programmes with limited funding such as school breakfast clubs. This reinforced the need for broader, more accessible financial support to help unlock reformulation and healthier product innovation at scale.
