pladis Global - Back to Farm
Topics
pladis designed and delivered the Back to Farm programme, partnering with UK wheat farmers to implement regenerative practices that improve soil health, resilience and long-term supply security, aligned to both sustainability goals and commercial sourcing needs.
Flexibility for farmers was balanced with commercial requirements, while ensuring collection of robust data. Positive outcomes were demonstrated across carbon, farmer engagement and yield resilience, proving that a partnership-led approach can deliver both environmental and commercial value, and creating a strong business case to scale the programme.
pladis UK procurement collaborated with Frontier Agriculture & Yagro to make this programme a success. With a scalable framework in place based on strategic partnerships that is intended to expand both through increased wheat volumes and other crops.
Judges' Comment
“This is a scalable programme that clearly outlines how it goes beyond ambition to deliver measurable and meaningful results. It was impressive to see the initiative embedded directly into sourcing, rather than sitting as a standalone project, making it feel practical, lasting and truly connected to the business.”
