Chilled Food Association - Chilled Education

Chilled Education was launched in 2011 and has acted as an inspiration for students, teachers and university colleagues to think about food as a science subject, a classroom resource and, ultimately as an exciting career option.

For almost a decade, its work has reached tens of thousands of young people at careers and science events such as the Big Bang Fair. Its blend of innovative resources, backed up with solid industry expertise, has been inspiring career choices and providing support to science and food teachers. Chilled Education is in contact with around 1,750 science and food teachers via its Cool Schools Newsletter.

From March 2020, it adapted to the new landscape, moving away from nine successful years of face-to-face activities and outreach to create an online offer aimed at wider audiences. The team tried and tested store cupboard science experiments, sharing on their website and via social media for home-schooling and general fun during lockdown. Meanwhile career pathways and chats to teacher support sessions continued to inspire and inform.
