Between Food and Medicine: Navigating Food Supplement Regulation in the UK and EU

Fortified foods and food supplements are increasingly viewed as a vital part of consumers' diets, with the health benefits of foods topping the list of consumer purchasing drivers.

With innovative food sources and production processes adding to regulatory requirement complexity, understanding just where your product sits in the EU and UK’s legislative frameworks is key to compliance when thinking of entering either of these markets.

The boundaries between foods and medicinal products have become increasingly blurred in the mind of the consumer. On the 3rd of September this year, the United Kingdom’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) stated that it will ‘develop additional guidance to help consumers understand the boundaries between medicinal products, foods and food supplements.’

In this webinar, Ashbury will navigate the web of UK and EU legislation relevant to food supplements to help businesses start their product’s journey in the right lane; untangling the web and putting all the relevant definitions and regulatory hurdles into clear focus.
