Trans Fats: Industry Achievement Applauded

The industry was today praised by the FSA Board for its voluntary action on trans fats. Responding Julian Hunt , FDF Director of Communications said:

“Well done the FSA! Its board has today made a sensible decision based on solid evidence. We have been saying for some time that the industry has been working hard over a number of years to dramatically reduce trans fats in foods, responding to consumer concerns. As the FSA's detailed research makes clear, we are leading the world when it comes to reformulating out trans fats.

“It's a pity that FSA has been sidetracked from other important work to complete this inquiry. However, we can take comfort from the fact that we now have robust, independent evidence to provide real clarity about how much has been achieved, and the positive impact our work is having on public health.”
