The FDF's economic analysis is a key avenue for ensuring the financial importance of the sector is widely recognised, as well as its potential for growth and productivity improvements.

The food and drink industry is the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, contributing £30bn to the economy annually and employing over 468,000 people. We are a key part of the nation’s £126bn ‘farm to fork’ food chain.

We produce regular reports on business confidence, export performance and monthly analysis of statistical releases from the ONS.

Food prices are rising as UK inflation hits 40-year high

Food and non-alcoholic drink inflation picked up speed for the ninth consecutive month, reaching its highest level since June 2011. April’s food and non-alcoholic drink prices rose on an annual basis by 6.7%, up from 5.9% in March.
