Food and drink is the UK’s largest manufacturing sector, contributing £38 billion to the economy annually and employing over 472,000 people. We are a key part of the nation’s £162 billion ‘farm to fork’ food chain.

We produce regular reports on business confidence, export performance and monthly analysis of ONS statistical releases.


Food inflation near 3-year low

Annual food and drink inflation slowed to 1.7% in May, the slowest annual rate since October 2021 and the 14th consecutive month of easing. On the month, prices fell by 0.3%, first monthly decline since January.
