Middle East Conflict
In light of recent developments in the Middle East and impacts for global food supply chains and input markets, the FDF is engaging with government departments across Whitehall (including Defra, DBT, and HM Treasury) on the impact on the UK food and drinks sector.
The FDF’s revised inflation forecast, published on 1 April, gained widespread coverage across the media. It also generated interest from government. We are therefore keen to gather further member feedback to feed into various government departments and help shape the government response to this crisis – in particular its support for our sector.
Impacts & Risks: Insights
We are gathering feedback from industry on actual and potential impacts and risks to ensure government understands how this is affecting businesses in our sector.
We are particularly interested to hear how the conflict is impacting SMEs.
Please respond to the questions below and send your answers to Liliana, our Chief Economist. All feedback received will be anonymised and aggregated.
- Have you seen any direct impacts of the conflict so far? If so, please provide details.
- What potential risks do you foresee arising from the conflict if it continues, and over what timeframe might these materialise?
- If the conflict were to continue over 4-6 weeks, what inflationary impact do you estimate it could have on your overall operating costs under the following scenarios?
Your contributions and insights inform our ongoing discussions with relevant government departments.
