Net Zero Programme Director to lead the Scottish food and drink industry on its journey to net zero
19 July 2022
Iain Clunie has been appointed in a new role as Net Zero Programme Director by Food and Drink Federation Scotland to support Scottish food and drink producers and manufacturers on their journey to net zero.
For the last six years Iain has led the Food and Drink team at Zero Waste Scotland – helping to reduce food waste across the supply chain from farm to fork and working towards Scotland’s target of 33% food waste reduction by 2025.
Iain will lead the Strategic Net Zero Response Programme on behalf of the Scotland Food & Drink Partnership to support the Scottish food and drink industry to meet the Partnership’s Net Zero Commitment.
His team will provide an important link between policy makers, politicians, regulators and other stakeholders and the food and drink industry in Scotland and beyond. This work will drive forward progress towards the Scottish food and drink supply chain becoming net zero by 2045.
Food and Drink Federation Scotland’s Net Zero Programme Director, Iain Clunie, said:
“Reaching net zero is one of the biggest challenges facing Scotland’s food and drink industry. Our manufacturers and producers have made great progress but there is so much more to do.
“I am excited to get stuck in to help food and drink businesses with projects that will reduce the carbon emissions of their products and support Scotland’s journey to net zero.”
Food and Drink Federation Scotland’s Chief Executive Officer, David Thomson, said:
“I am delighted to have Iain join us to take on this important project.
“He brings with him a wealth of experience that will provide food and drink businesses with the support they need to ensure we can deliver net zero food and drink products on our supermarket shelves by 2045.”
