Business Confidence Survey Q3 2021

FDF’s newly-released Q3 2021 Business Confidence report shows that net business confidence among food and drink manufacturers fell by 55% in Q3 2021, returning to negative as a result of the ongoing labour shortages and supply chain disruptions.

Key impacts experienced by food and drink manufacturers included delayed or missed deliveries (both inbound and outbound) and labour shortages, particularly HGV drivers, temporary agency workers and process, plant and machine operatives processing. Businesses were pessimistic about the prospect of improving conditions in the final quarter of 2021, with significant concerns over the availability of temporary and permanent workers
